The gold

Our primary material dealers source gold from the company: C.Hafner.

The following information comes from our material dealer.

General:
For centuries, gold has been extracted from nature without any consideration for social aspects or the environment, which has suffered from deforestation of forests and rainforests, removal and erosion of topsoil, and pollution of water and waterways, among other things.

At C.Hafner, a distinction is made between primary gold and secondary gold. Primary gold comes from mining, while secondary gold is recycled gold, i.e., gold from old jewelry and metal waste from the jewelry and dental industries.

Recycled Gold:
An important element in the green transition is the way we use nature's resources.
A study has shown that recycled gold has a
CO2 footprint that is 99.8% lower than gold extracted from mining. Therefore, C.Hafner exclusively uses recycled gold. The old gold thus undergoes a refining process where it is purified and transformed into pure gold.

The process

Before the refining process itself begins, the old gold is analyzed. If primary gold is identified during this process, it is sorted out and sent back to the customer. In this way, C.Hafner can guarantee that their production consists exclusively of 100% recycled gold.

CO2-neutral Refining:
The recycling process takes place at C.Hafner's facility in Pforzheim, where the development of CO2-neutral technology is a top priority.

The facility thus uses 100% electricity from renewable energy sources, waste heat from the refining process is reused via heat exchangers, raw materials such as nitric acid are reprocessed, and wastewater is treated through a modern filter system. These are just a few of the initiatives C.Hafner has implemented to achieve its goal of CO2 neutrality.

Guidelines:
Our Danish dealer collaborates with recognized European partners who, through LBMA certification (The London Bullion Market Association) and RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council), guarantee compliance with environmental and ethical guidelines.

Direct Recycled Gold:
We also directly recycle your old gold for your new jewelry.

This means that if you have old gold in your drawer that is suitable for recycling, the gold does not need to be sent for refining but can instead be melted down to make new jewelry.
